Proudly Supported Foundation Projects

Since our inception in 2015, the Foundation has proudly support a number of projects design to enrich the experience of students and faculty and supplement district funding in the areas of fine arts, capital improvements and academic enhancement.

Leave a Legacy Paver Campaign & Entryway Beautification

In December 2017 WTDHS underwent a renovation of the entryway thanks to our Business Partner, Kast Construction, and “We Are Dwyer” Board Member, Kast VP, David DeMay.  The We Are Dwyer Foundation – Leave a Legacy brick paver walkway was installed along with new landscape to create a beautiful and welcoming entryway full of Panther Pride displayed on commemorative bricks to celebrate accomplishments of students and alumni. The Leave a Legacy campaign is an ongoing Foundation activity and bricks can be purchase at any time here – installation occurs twice per year.

Foundation Grant Program

The We Are Dwyer Foundation is accepting grant applications from William T. Dwyer High School administrators, teachers and student groups. The purpose of the grant program is to promote and fund fine arts programs, educational enhancements, capital improvements and all efforts to promote community among the faculty, and the larger community.

WTDHS App Development

In August 2017, WTDHS launched a mobile app created to streamline the communications of all departments, athletics and clubs and become a centralized location where students and parents alike could go to find out information. The app features academic calendars, team schedules, news and announcements, faculty contact information, volunteer opportunities, social media engagement and school cash accounts. The Foundation underwrote the development costs to create the app and continues to underwrite the annual fees to host and maintain the app for the benefit of the WTDHS community.

Score at the Top – ACT Test Preparation

The Foundation partners with Score at the Top to provide a discounted rate for an 8-week test preparation course to WTDHS students. Additionally, the Foundation works with the Guidance department to identify ten students who could benefit from the test preparation course and pays 100% of the tuition for those students.

After-school EOC and FSA-ELA Tutoring

The Foundation provides pizza to all participants daily to incentivize students to participate in this 6-week voluntary tutoring program designed to move the needle on academic preparedness and test scores.

Digital Marquee

The Foundation procured WTDHS first Digital Marquee that was installed at the front entrance in 2015.

After School Drama Club

The Foundation funded  an after school Theatre/Drama program to bring the arts back to WTDHS after learning that funding was cut for a number of the fine arts programs. The Drama Club wrote and produced an entire production called “Open Mic Night.”

The accomplishments of the Drama Club are due to two things, We Are Dwyer’s continued support of the arts at Dwyer High, and the dedication of a core group of drama club students that make it a priority in their very busy schedules.  As well as this core of 10-15 students, there are 25-35 kids that consider themselves drama club members and come whenever their demanding schedules allow.  I know it has made a huge difference in all their lives.

-Nathan Stubbs, Drama Club Teacher, WTDHS
Thank you so much for the every extra mile you traversed on behalf of the Drama Club. Know you had a huge affect on multiple kids. THANK YOU!
Drama Club Student, WTDHS

Thank you so much, because this Club isn’t just a school activity, but my second family.

Drama Club Student, WTDHS

Thank you so much for being such a supportive force in brining theatre back to Dwyer. Art matters! This year has been amazing, we thank you!

Drama Club Student, WTDHS
Drama club has helped me become more confident throughout the years. I used to be really shy and scared of public situations, but theatre has made me feel accepted and confident enough to speak and get out of my comfort zone to achieve things I never thought I could. I’ve been a proud member since the club started 3 years ago, and  as a senior, I’m happy to leave a legacy to future Dwyer students. Kids in the club are an inspiration, as I’ve seen them grow and expand their opportunities, and see some of them graduate and achieve great things. I am proud to be part of this amazing club and safe community for everyone.

Grant Recipient – Debate Club

I’d like to thank the ‘We Are Dwyer Foundation’ for their continued support.  The Dwyer Debate program and myself have been impacted positively by each member’s support during a time of need.  If it wasn’t for the We Are Dwyer Foundation, I would have not been able to attend the National Speech and Debate’s First Annual Educator’s Conference in August 2017.   By WAD providing the help and support to attend, this allowed for me to grow as second year forensics educator and pass on tools, techniques, and strategies to my students. As a result of attending this Educator’s Conference, it has helped me build and expand my knowledge of this academic sport whilst create a network with other professionals in this field.  I couldn’t be more appreciative of what We Are Dwyer has done for Dwyer Debate.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon

We Are Dwyer Board Member and WTDHS teacher Dr. Daniel Markarian reported that we had 150 out of approximately 220 staff attend the team building and appreciation luncheon in December.  The Foundation funded the luncheon provided by CR Chicks and it was an extremely well received gesture and event by our teachers and staff.  We are slowly but surely working on building a better sense of community among the faculty and staff and this was a big boon to that.  Dr. Markarian reported that administration acted as servers allowing the custodians to enjoy lunch as well as the teachers.  Everyone enjoyed being served.

I am one of the Speech-Language Pathologists at Dwyer. I just wanted to send a quick note of thanks to the We Are Dwyer Foundation. This organization does so many wonderful things for our school and community. I am very grateful for the luncheon that We Are Dwyer is sponsoring for the faculty and staff this afternoon. Thanks in advance.
-Carol G, Speech Language Pathologist, WTDHS
I wanted to take a moment to give you my thanks – not just for sponsoring the faculty luncheon next week, which is incredibly thoughtful, but for all of the hard work you do for Dwyer. Without the support of parents and community partners, like all of you who embody “We Are Dwyer,” we would not have the programs and resources needed to take Dwyer to the next level.

It is my pleasure to teach at a school with such amazing community support, and I am honored to work alongside all of you to encourage and educate the students here at Dwyer.
